What is an audit trail, and what does an append-only ledger buy you?
An audit trail is an unalterable record of who did what, when and from where. Built on an append-only ledger, every load, sale, payment and route action is written once and never overwritten — so you can drill from a balance straight to the source document, cheque photo and geo-stamp, and prove the figure rather than vouch for it. That is the difference between a report you trust and one you hope is right.
What is a fleet management information system (FMIS)?
An FMIS is the single system that holds your fleet, route, delivery, stock and cost data and reports on it. RouteMagic acts as that operational system of record: every movement posts to source, and the reporting layer reads from it live — no separate spreadsheet or BI rebuild to keep it current.
Can I export reports to Excel, PDF or CSV?
Yes — every report exports to CSV, XLSX and PDF, and most can be scheduled as an email digest. Filtered views keep their filters on export.
Does drill-down really go all the way to source documents?
Yes. From a customer balance you drill to the invoice; from the invoice to the line items, the cheque photo, the geo-stamp, the driver and the timestamp. From a bin quantity you drill to the receipt, transfer, pick or adjustment that moved it. Nothing is rolled-up first.
Can I report per-branch separately, or only per-tenant?
Both. Every ledger is branch-aware, so you can run per-branch cash, per-branch inventory and per-cashier accuracy in isolation, then roll up to tenant-level for consolidated reporting.
How long is Audit Log retention — and is it tamper-resistant?
Audit Log is append-only and hash-chained — edits leave a footprint. Default retention is seven years; longer retention is configurable per tenant for regulated industries.
Is the commission engine returns-aware?
Yes. Returns and credit notes adjust commission in the same cycle, so you don’t pay out on a sale that came back the next day. Backdated returns reverse cleanly; mid-month rule changes are supported. Commission and wastage reporting is part of the daily round in van sales software.
Is cold-chain and temperature reporting auditable for regulators?
Yes. Per-stop temperature readings, out-of-range alerts and reefer downtime build an auditable cold-chain trail you can export as a regulator-ready PDF.
