What a perfect store standard covers
Standards usually differ by store type: a forecourt is not held to a supermarket’s range.
- Range: the lines this type of store should stock.
- Availability: those lines on the shelf, not just in the stockroom.
- Placement: the agreed position and facings, per the planogram.
- Price: the shelf price at or near the recommended price.
- Promotion and display: point-of-sale material and promotional space in place.
Scoring stores
A perfect store checklist turns the standard into questions a rep answers in store. The answers are weighted into a score. Tracked over time, the score shows which stores are improving and which items fail most often. Weight the items by what matters to the brand, and keep the list short enough to complete on every visit.
