What a planogram shows

  • The position of each product on the bay, left to right and top to bottom.
  • The number of facings each product gets.
  • Shelf heights and the fixtures used.
  • Where promotional and seasonal lines go.

Checking compliance

A planogram only helps if the shelf follows it. Reps and merchandisers check the bay against the plan, fix gaps and wrong positions, and photograph the result. A missing facing can mean an out-of-stock, a product moved by store staff, or a listing never put on the shelf.
