POSM, short for point-of-sale materials, are the displays, signs and fixtures a supplier places in a store to draw attention to its products where the shopper decides. They range from shelf strips and price cards to floor stands and branded fridges. Reps install, check and replace POSM on their visits.

POSM
Small POSM goes missing quickly, so reps check it on each visit. Larger items, such as fridges and dispensers, are assets that cost money. They need a record of which store has them, when they were installed and when they were last serviced.

In retail, POS often means the till system. POSM means the promotional materials around the product. Some people use POS for both, which is why POSM is the clearer term.
